Message to the skies

This is Dave's 'message to the skies'.....haha

We've had a large blue heron feasting on our koi....not good! It snatched 2-3 of our large fish and countless smaller fish. So, Dave searched the internet for solutions and this is what he came up with... He bought a decoy which seemed to do nothing on its own..so Dave thought he would lay it down as a 'message' to the heron as to what would be in store. (ha - the heron is a protected bird and the fines for killing one are huge! and there's probably some jail time in there too) Anyway - it was good for a few laughs...Dave also strung fishing line around and over the pond to deter it - seems they don't like to get caught up in it! Even after that there was evidence of heron activity for a few days......we learned that heron 'throw up' on the water and wait for the fish to come up and eat it and then snatch them!! gross! The fishing line has been down for about a week now....but the decoy will now be part of our decor..haha =)

Maybe the heron has gotten the message because the fish don't seem to be as scared anymore and we haven't seen any bird puke on the water - we'll see how it goes!!

Also, the 'easter island head' is a new addition this year...kind of fun! =)
